Just after I put up the CalBizLit post today on attorneys' fees, I found t this story on Legal Pad. The subject is San Francisco Superior Court Judge Anne Bouliane's ruling on the attorney's fees motion in Murphy v. Kenneth Cole Productions, which law professors, working with students, recently won at the California Supreme Court. Judge Bouliane reduced proposed hourly rates from a requested $525 per hour to a maximum of $425 per hour, and cut the law students from $125 to $90. In our experience, these are very conservative rates for a San Francisco fee award. Judge Bouliane also reduced the multiplier from a requested 2.0 to 1.8. That, from what we've seen, is not so unusual.
